30 hours free childcare for working parents

All 3 and 4-year-olds are entitled to 15 hours free childcare for 38 weeks of the year. The Government has said this will double to 30 hours free childcare, for working parents, from September 2017.

How to apply Visit https://www.gov.uk/apply-30-hours-free-childcare to complete an online application form.

You will qualify if:

  • Both parents are working (or the sole parent is working in a lone parent family) and each parent earns on average:

A weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at the National Minimum Wage  (NMW) or National Living Wage (NLW); and Less than £100,000 per year

  •  One or both parents are away on leave (paternal, maternal, adoption leave etc)
  • One or both parents receive Statutory Sick Pay
  • One parent is employed and the other parent has either substantial caring responsibilities and/or a disability

A parent means the person who has parental responsibility for the child or care of the child.

If your working pattern has changed because of coronavirus (COVID-19)

You may still be eligible for 30 hours free childcare if you’re temporarily working less and either:

· you’re on furlough through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
