Year 5

Welcome to Year Five 2018-19!

In Year Five we hope to always 'be the best that we can be!'

We hope to be able to share with you some of the activities that we have completed in class and any news or exciting events taking place. Watch this space...

World Book Day! We designed and made board games based on ‘Millions’ by Frank Cottrell Boyce. We then enjoyed playing them!

As part of our IPC topic, we have made our own Ancient Greek pots out of clay and painted them with images of Greek life and geometric patterns.

Science Investigations! We have been investigating the variables that can affect dissolving as part of our 'Bake It' topic.

Group challenge! We had to create models of famous buildings from Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome to start our new IPC topic.

We have had out first flute lesson!  Our flute teachers from Bury Music Service were impressed and excited by the sounds we are already able to make.  In the next couple of weeks we should be able to start taking our flutes home for extra practice.  The class are keen to start reading music and playing a variety of pieces of music on our new instrument.
Year 5 are enjoying lots of exercise at the moment...  We are swimming every morning (for 4 weeks!) as well as walking across to the swimming baths and back each day.  We have got some very talented swimmers and some children who are being very brave and determined to overcome their doubts about the water.
