Welcome to the Year 4 class page.
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2021/22 school year.
I am really excited to be your child’s teacher this year – we’re going to have so much fun! Year Four is full of wonderful learning opportunities and I can’t wait to share them with your child.
I am committed to creating a classroom environment based on mutual trust and respect, where your child feels valued and can succeed. It is my hope that you will support and encourage this vision at home.
Expectations at home
Extending and consolidating children’s learning at home is very important and I would appreciate your support in this area. Children are expected to read at home every single day and to have their reading records signed with the page number they read up too. This will be checked every day. Children often make great success in my class if they read every day.
Weekly homework will include:
The homework sheet needs to be returned to school (in the homework folder) on a Thursday.. New homework will be handed out on a Friday. If homework is not completed/handed in, children will be kept in at playtime to complete it.
Children should also be practising their timetables regularly as well as reading/spelling the words on the Year 4 word list.
Learning topics taking place this half term.
English - Arthur and the Golden Rope
Maths - Place value
Science - The Digestive System
History - The Vikings
Art - Viking collages of a long boat project
Technola - IT coding
PSHE - Understanding how to be the best version of me
RE - Family
PE - Dance and multi-sports
Reminders
Please ensure that your child has the school PE kit with them every Tuesday and Thursday and that ear rings are taped up (studs only - no hooped or ringed earrings).
Please allow time after school or in the morning to listen to your child read as it is compulsory to have your child's reading record signed daily. Once your child has finished their book they will be given a book review to complete in which they have a maximum of 2 days to bring it back to school so that they can then recieve a new book to read.
Please do keep checking the school website for updates, reminders and most importantly to see your child's wonderful work published online!
Thank you,
Miss Marshall
