We’ve been looking at the work of Cathy Miles. We were so inspired that we decided to create our own wire bird sculptures. It was tricky, but we persevered and look at the final product!
Sculpture Fun!
In our art lessons, we've been studying sculptures. An artist called Andy Goldsworthy creates sculptures using natural materials. We had a go at creating some land art, just like Andy. Miss Gardiner was very impressed with out creativity!
We've been studying sculptures in art. Many sculptures are made from different materials, such as clay, wood, metal and stone.
We've been reading The Robot and The Bluebird. We needed to help Robot make an important decision, so we used a conscience alley to help us think about all the arguments, for and against. We came up with some great ideas!
We have been looking at different habitats. We went outside to see which things were living, dead or had never been alive in our local environment.
Who is taller? We've been learning about measuring this week. We began by looking at non standard units of measure.
This week we learned about the Advent wreath.

ART - We've been studying the work of Wassily Kandinsky. We made tints by adding white and shades by adding black. We mixed all the colours we wanted to use to create circles like Kandinsky.
The Rosary
Look at some of our amazing pumpkin boats that we made for homework.
Happy Harvest - We all looked amazing in our Harvest costumes
Harvest Art - We've been looking at warm colours in art and thought carefully about the time of year they remind us of. Because we've been reading Pattan's Pumkin and it's harvest time, we decided to create our very own stained glass pumpkins. They looks amazing in our classroom window against the autumn scenery outside.
It's harvest time and Pattan's fruit has been harvested, so we used some of the fruit to make smoothies!
This half term, we will be learning about India and Pakistan. To start our topic off with a WOW, we had a special visitor on Friday, who helped us learn about the culture in Pakistan. We were lucky enough to have a look at some special clothing and jewellery from Pakistan and we asked the expert lots of great questions! We also tasted some different foods and smelt some authentic spices that are used in Indian and Pakistani cooking. Our classroom smelt amazing!
We've been developing our computing skills, in Year 2. In class we have begun learning to use the Seesaw app and some of us have joined our new Friday Computing Club, too.
