Welcome to Year 2!

In Year 2, we love to learn and always reach for the stars.

Here are some of the exciting adventures we have been having this year!

Blackpool Tower summer trip.

We have been practicing our circus skills ready for a trip to Blackpool!

We've had great fun this afternoon. We have been learning all about plants and insects in science and this afternoon we have all planted a flower in the tubs in the infant playground.

Today we have been sketching and shading insects in our art books.

Today we have been learning about capacity. We have been ordering using units of measure.

Easter Egg Hunt!

Fun with straws! We were investigating which 2D shapes we could make and which we couldn't make using 6 straws.

World Book Day. We all had fun listening to stories read by different teachers.

Beating the rhythm to Michael Rosen's poem 'The Rhythm of Life'.

Fabulous visit to Bury Library today. We learnt how the books are ordered and listened to lovely stories of long ago.

Today we dressed up as our favourite book character for our topic 'Stories People Tell'.

A Visit to Jamiakhizra Mosque

The children in Year 1 and Year 2 went on a visit to one of of local Mosques. The Imam talked to us all about the Muslim faith, the traditions and celebrations. He told us about the 5 Pillars of Islam as well as showing us their Holy Book The Qur'an. We had an excellent opportunity to hear the Call of the Prayers as well as watching the 1 o'clock prayers. We had an excellent afternoon and are very thankful to the Imam and his staff for their hospitality to us all.

Paul Cummins Art Week. We have used water colours to paint poppy pictures inspired by Paul Cummins.

We were finding out if counting in 10's is quicker than counting in 1's.
