What a fantastic afternoon, our Year 3 class love sports, so this was a great day for everyone! Thank you to all the parents who came to watch.
Quidditch Day!
What a blast! We were split into 4 houses from Harry Potter all day. We definitely gained magic powers that day!
Our leaders for the day, split us into teams and had us playing Quidditch... unfortunately without the broom sticks and flying! But we were masters at it and worked as teams to complete all the challenges!

The Good Life Orphanage - Hattie's House
In Year 3, we chose a charity that was close to our hearts and in our community - Hattie's House.
Today we were able to hand over the cheque of the money we had raised for Hattie's House and discuss all the amazing things they do in Africa! We loved being able to give something back and cannot wait to continue to do so in the future!
Blackpool Zoo!
Well what a fun and exciting day we have had in Year 3! We travelled all the way to Blackpool to see some amazing animals and even get our very own Rainforest workshop! We have seen orangutans and their babies, elephants waving at us, sea lions showing us tricks, tigers hiding and lemurs jumping and many, many more. In our Rainforest workshop, linking to our Geography topic, were able to talk about all the animals, we know, that live in the separate layers of the rainforest - Dave, our leader, even let us tickle a Madagascan Cockroach! We have put our learning in to action and even found out some new, exciting facts about other animals too!
The Linking Project - Going to St Michaels
We have been very lucky this year to be apart of the Linking Project! Joining with St Michaels RC Primary School class of Year 4, we were able to make some lovely connections and build friendships that will last a lifetime! We have had such a lovely time exploring new books together and understanding each others passions and opinions! This time we got to go and visit their school and play on their playground! We had so much fun travelling on the Metrolink and walking to their school.
CRAZY HAIR DAY - WAS AMAZING! - We raised £159.92!
In Year 3, we chose a charity that was close to our hearts and in our community - Hattie's House.
Hattie's House first opened it's doors on 17th October 2023 - The house was set up for the children at the Good Life Orphanage, in the hopes of creating children's education and living requirements a lot better. This charity was set up in the name of a lovely, young girl, who unfortunately passed away on the 26th June 2021, she had a passion for helping children and wanted to go into the career of teaching. This charity is a lovely cause and I am sure St Marie's will remain connected in fund raising for such a loving charity. Thank you for all who got involved and really shown our love for charities and communities.
Linking Project - St Michaels visits St Maries
Being so lucky in our Linking partner, we have had the ability to invite our friends from St Michael's Primary in Year 4, to visit our school. We spent the day exploring puzzles, creating pictures and building on our friendships even more! In Year 3, we were very excited to show St Michaels our amazing facilities and explore our favourite sports together!
Prayer and Liturgy – Mary, The Mother of Jesus.
To celebrate the life of Mary in the month of May, we gathered outside to light our candles and remember that Mary, the mother of Jesus and our mother too is always with us.
We thought about Mary and how in the month of May we pray to Mary especially, to help us live like Jesus wants us to. We thought about the times Mary was faithful to God, even in the tougher times and how we pray to follow Mary’s example and listen to God, doing as he asks, always.
We read The Annunciation Story from the Bible; we took our reading from Luke 1:26-38.
After reflective thinking, we prayed to Mary to grant us the help we need to follow in her footsteps, in our journey to God. We journeyed ourselves to our reflective prayer garden and placed a symbol we had created for Mary, at Mary’s feet. We made our own prayer to Mary and quietly left the garden to reflect upon her love and faith for God, and how we can be like Mary.
Holy Week
In Year 3, we really took a deep dive into Holy Week, exploring the emotions and thoughts in this time. We had many class discussions on how we would feel, if we were present at that time and how we feel now, understanding the story and exploring why Jesus made such a sacrifice for us. Although we discussed the sadness, we were also able to talk about the happiness and joy that follows from the sacrifice Jesus, Our Lord, took for us!
To understand Jesus' thoughts and feelings during the Last Supper, we acted out the meal in partners, one of us stepping into Jesus' shoes and placing ourselves in his powerful and unique position. We took out scripture from the Gospel of Luke 22: 7 - 38.
'This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.' Luke 22:19.
'This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.' Luke 22:20.
Design and Technology!
We put our creative skills to the test this term, creating our very own Anglo-Saxon Money Pouches!
In our Topic work, we have been exploring the Anglo-Saxons and how they lived, and came to Great Britain. We discovered how they used to dress and carry everything around with them! As a class we decided, we wanted to create our very own Anglo-Saxon Money pouch and WOW we have some amazing and creative designers in Year 3! We put our precision skills to the test stitching our pouches together and selecting designs to be placed on the front! We were even able to use a drawstring to keep our money safe!
Year 3 Stay and Pray
We had a lovely opportunity to have a Stay and Pray with our friends and family this morning. Our theme was hope, exploring the hope we have for Jesus and our faith in this time. We explored the Parable: The Mustard Seed, taking our scripture from Matthew 13:31 - 32). Together we planted a seed one by one, to represent our seed of hope and how our hope blossoms.
Linking Project - Meeting St Michaels at the Art Gallery!
We have begun our Linking Project and today we finally got to meet our Linked school St Michaels. We played games, read stories and became artists ourselves designing birds that we were able to split and put up in our classrooms. We will be meeting our friends again very soon!
We are healthy dip specialists!
In link to our topic of The Stone Age to Iron Age, we set out to create healthy dips for a Stone Age party! We began by exploring a range of dips, looking, smelling, touching, tasting, using all of our senses to really decide the best dip for us. Once we had chosen our favourite, we had to discover what ingredients we need to create this tasty dip for our party! We researched and discovered making sure to note down every key ingredient for our dip and then....
WE MADE OUR VERY OWN DIPS! They were delicious!
Stone Age Day!
Year 3 became archaeologists for the day! We dove deep into the past and explored all things Stone Age! We explored how they made food, clothes and even how and where they lived!
In the afternoon, we got our hands dirty and explored how scientists and archaeologists discover what the people of our past ate and drank through exploring poo! It was so much fun - we definitely have some future historians in Year 3!
