Welcome to Year 2!
This half term, our topic is 'All Things Bright and Beautiful'. We are learning all about how to protect God's world and all the creatures in it.
This term, we are going to be reading:
We are reading the book Moth by Isobel Thomas. This is a non-fiction story all about the peppered moth and how it has evolved to fit its environment as the world has started to change. Ask us about our favourite moth facts that we have learnt so far!
We are also going to read:
This story is inspired by the amazing activist Greta Thunberg and her important work speaking out about caring for our beautiful world. We will be thinking carefully about what actions we can do to look after the planet in our topic and science lessons!

We had a lovely time at the art gallery exploring lots of different artists and their work. Can you spot us and our marvellous creations?

We worked so hard on our quizzes this week and got a whole class certificate for our amazing work. To celebrate we had a movie afternoon and watched the film of our story time novel, James and the Giant Peach!
It has been brilliant designing, making and evaluating our moving vehicles. Can you spot us in our teams with our fire trucks?
What a brilliant time we had exploring Staircase House! Can you spot us telling the story of Samuel Pepys and the Great Fire of London?
We have had a busy week so far, learning all about how to be world explorers from a real life explorer and working on our African drumming! What will our next adventure be?
Year 2 had a fantastic time on their Communitree trip! We were so proud of our waterproof dens and the new outdoor skills we learned!
We have been designing our own Tudor houses and learning about The Great Fire of London
We decorated our giant pumpkin using mehndi patterns.
After our trip to Kenyon Hall Farm, we used our pumpkins to create a boat, just like in the story - Pattan's Pumkin. Then we tested them to see if they sunk or floated. What fun we had!
The road safety lady came to visit us today. She taught us how to be safe when we cross the road.
Today, we had a special visitor in Year 2. We've been learning about India and Pakistan, and Mrs Rashid came to teach us about life in Pakistan. She brought lots of interesting things for us to look at.
