HISTORY - Year 5 Trip to Chester
We had a fantastic trip to Chester to find out more about the Romans. We marched through the streets of Chester chanting in Latin at the tops of our voices! We learned how we could defend ourselves in the Testudo (tortoise) formation. In the afternoon, we discovered what life was like inside a Roman fort: finding out about the food they ate, their armour and weapons, who they worshipped and the bathhouse experience.
DESIGN TECHNOLOGY - Bread
We carried out some market research and tasted different types of bread to see which one we like the best. We then did a vote to find out the most popular bread in Year 5 - the winning loaf was ...
Mrs. Dandy's homemade pizza sharing loaf! Thank you Mrs. Dandy for sharing your spectacular baking talents with us!
Here are some photographs of us tasting the different types of bread and also lots of different ingredients to see which ones we would like to use when we make our own bread roll - YUM!
ENGLISH - Spelling
We have been practising our weekly spellings using fun and exciting strategies - we can use these at home too!
DESIGN TECHNOLOGY - Bread
In Year Five, we will be making our very own bread as part of our Design Technology work.
So far we have found out and researched the well-known bakers - Warburtons.
Mrs Dandy did a dough making demonstration for us!
We also watch videos of the famous TV chefs / bakers Nadiya Hussain and Paul Hollywood - they have given us some handy hints for our own bread baking!
